Independent bookstores

I've heard back from a few independent bookstores in the past few days, and I want to thank them for considering stocking the book.  I know that with 150,000 new books published each year, they must get deluged with emails and other come-ons.  But these few not only read my email but also the promotional material on the website.  It sounds self-serving to say this, since it's my book they're interested in, but I have a lot of respect for a bookseller who takes the time to dig up new books for their customers instead of waiting for the bestseller lists.  So thank you:

Annie's Book Stop, in Laconia, NH
Bank Square Books, in Mystic, CT
HeadHouse Books, in Philadelphia, PA
Lake Country Booksellers, in White Bear Lake, MN
Norwich Bookstore, in Norwich, VT
BookTowne, in Manasquan, NJ
Reader's World, in Lee's Summit, MO
Barbara's Bookstore, in Chicago
Yankee Bookshop, in Woodstock, VT
Galaxy Bookshop, in Hardwick, VT
Doylestown Books, in Doylestown, PA
The Galaxy Bookstore, in Hardwick, VT
Elysian Fields, in Sarasota, FL
Next Page Books, in Frisco, CO
That Bookstore in Blytheville, in Blytheville, AR
Eagle Eye Bookshop, in Decatur, GA
Avid Bookstore, in Athens, GA
The Bookmark, in Neptune Beach, FL
 JJ Books in Bothell, WA
The Book Shop, in Sweet Briar, VA
Northshire Bookstore, Saratoga Springs, NY
Corner Bookstore, New York, NY
WORD, in Brooklyn, NY
Bob's Beach Books, in Lincoln City, OR
Book Woman Bookstore, in Austin, TX
Posman Books, in NYC

And thanks to Harvard's bookstore for letting me know that they definitely will not be carrying the book. I didn't really expect them to. Frankly, I'm surprised they even let my email into Harvard.

The blog is up

Here's Peter sitting on the flanks of Mount Rainier in 2009, surveying all the country we had crossed to get to that point.  I feel the same right now as I look at this website with all the video and other gizmos I had to learn during several frustrating weeks.  I'm exhausted but gratified that the toughest part is behind me, and it's all downhill from here.
